Overview
The purpose of this scheme is to provide with Selected Candidates” short term exposure to different verticals/ divisions/ units of IWAI as “Interns”. An intern may be required to work at Head Office or Project Office depending upon the requirement of the Authority.
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has introduced the “Inland Waterways Authority of India Internship Scheme” to provide exposure to students on the development of Inland Waterways Transport in India. The scheme enables young academic talent to understand IWAI’s functioning, contribute through research, analysis, and report preparation, and gain practical experience. Interns are provided working space, required to use their own laptops, and must submit a report and declaration of secrecy during the internship. A certificate is awarded upon satisfactory completion, with an intake of 10 Undergraduate and 15 Postgraduate/Research interns for each year.

Benefits
- Remuneration: Stipend @ Rs. 10,000/- for Undergraduates and Rs. 20,000/- for Post Graduate/ Research Scholars per month will be payable on satisfactory completion of their internships.
Note:
- Last month's remuneration shall be provided on submission of their Report/paper.
- Interns will be eligible for remuneration equivalent to the number of days of attendance in the office against the total number of working days in that month.
- Experience Certificate: A certificate regarding the successful completion of the Internship shall be issued by IWAI in the enclosed format in Annexure-B of the Scheme Guidelines.
Note:
- The certificate will be issued upon the submission of their Report/paper and its evaluation by the Director/ Director-In Charge level officers in their concerned Division.
- Internship is neither a job nor any assurance for job in IWAI.
- No accommodation will be provided to interns.
- The internship may be terminated by IWAI by giving one month notice in case the performance of the candidate is not up to the mark.
- Interns not completing the requisite period as stipulated in their offer will not be issued with any certificate.
Eligibility
- Age
- 18 to 45 years
- The applicant should meet any of the following conditions:
- The applicant should be pursuing or have completed a Graduate or Postgraduate degree from a recognized university (national or international).
- The applicant, if applying as a Graduate student, should have secured at least 75% marks in Class 12.
- The applicant, if applying as a Postgraduate student, should have secured at least 60% marks in Graduation.
- The applicant, if applying as a Research Scholar, should have secured at least 60% marks in the Postgraduate degree.

Offline
Step 1: Fill in the application forms as prescribed in Annexure-A of the official bulletin.
Step 2: They must also enclose their CVs along with the application.
Step 3: The applications must be sent to The Secretary, Inland Waterways Authority of India, A-13, Sector-1, Noida-201301.
Step 4: Applicants must also clearly indicate the area of interest.

The Declaration of Secrecy should be furnished by the applicant before reporting for the internship.
How Much Shall The Remuneration Be To The Undergraduate Interns?
The remuneration to the Undergraduate Interns will be Rs. 10,000/- per month.
How Much Shall The Remuneration Be To The Post Graduate/ Research Scholar Interns?
The remuneration to the Undergraduate Interns will be Rs. 20,000/- per month.

What Logistic Support Will Be Provided By IWAI To The Interns?
1. IWAI will provide them with a working space.
2. In case the intern is required to travel for the work assigned, he/she will be reimbursed for the travelling cost as per the entitlement of the Technical Assistant at IWAI.
Will IWAI Provide A Laptop To The Interns?
No, the interns will be required to have their own laptops.
